Goal Distance: Scotiabank Half Marathon on June 23rd, 2019 

Pre-Reqs:

Wednesday Nights: 30 minutes of continuous running.

Saturday Mornings: Long runs are currently building towards the First Half 1/2 Marathon on February 10th. Our January 10th long run will be 16 km total, but can be tailored to individual needs. On February 16th, the distance will start back at 10 km.

Join Coach Jerry Ziak on Saturday Mornings at 8:00AM and Wednesday Evenings at 6:20PM for structured goal-oriented training runs. The group will meet at Forerunners North Shore (980 Marine Drive, North Vancouver) where all training sessions will begin and end.

The goals of the Saturday Morning Long Runs are to gradually build up your ability to complete your chosen race distance (half marathon or marathon) as well as increase the amount of volume that you can sustain at your goal race pace.

The Wednesday Workouts will work on improving your speed, strength, and running economy through interval training on the track, hills, and roads.

This 24 week clinic will keep you motivated and training consistently. A friendly environment with multiple pace groups will mean you will have great company and appropriately challenging runs. What Can I Do To Prepare?

To ensure that you get the most out of your experience in the clinic, come with a positive frame of mind and an eagerness to learn about the many benefits of running. Also, come willing to share your own goals, stories, and knowledge, as each member will enhance the overall clinic experience.  We encourage you to wear reflective clothing and/or lights on dark mornings and nights and to layer your clothing appropriately for the weather.

What Should I Expect?

You should expect to be a part of a fun and supportive group of like-minded people who want to improve their running and feel more alive. A comprehensive program for a half or full marathon will be provided as well as pre-workout information emails.

Where will the runs take place?

Most runs will begin at Forerunners North Shore at 980 Marine Drive, North Vancouver at 8:00 AM sharp.

Do We Run Rain Or Shine?

Yes, no matter what the weather does, we're ready to go.

Is There Parking Near Your Store?

Yes, there is ample parking on both Mackay Street and Churchill Cresent (South and South West of the store on Marine Drive).

Can I Bring My Pet?

While we love our pets also, this group is just for people.

How long are the sessions?

Generally, sessions take about 1.5 to 3 hours on Saturdays and 75 minutes on Wednesdays.

Jerry Ziak

A longtime competitive athlete, Jerry has leveraged his passion for running to become a fantastic coach. He leads both the Wednesday night and Saturday morning Clinics in North Vancouver, as well as doing personal one-on-one coaching. He also has an impressive 20 years experience fitting running shoes – no small feat in itself!
