Spring is a fun time of the year to run some of your favorite races. Stay motivated and focused through the last tough months of winter and join the Forerunners North Shore Spring Marathon and Half Marathon Clinic. This 19-week clinic will keep you motivated and training consistently. A friendly environment with multiple pace groups will mean you will have great company and appropriately challenging runs. Come out and meet new people, enjoy the benefits of a structured training group, and prepare yourself for your next challenge. Sign up today and join the Forerunners crew!

Each Saturday morning at 8 am, Coach Jerry Ziak will lead a defined long run. These long runs will start out at 10 km for the half marathoners and 16 km for the marathoners (24 km on week 2) and, over the course of 12 weeks, will gradually build up to 20 km and 36 km respectively in the lead up to the BMO Marathon and Half Marathon on May 3rd. We will then do an additional 7 weeks of training to prepare for the Scotiabank Half Marathon on June 28th.

For each session, we will provide a course map and targeted pace groups. Each group will have a trusty leader to guide you through the run and provide enjoyable company.

This clinic will prepare you for several local and destination races. Below you will find a list of some events that our clinic members will be training for.

Focus Races for Forerunners North Shore:

  • West Van Run 5k/10k on March 7th and 8th
  • BMO Vancouver Marathon and 1/2 Marathon on May 3rd
  • Scotiabank Half Marathon on June 28th

*If you are training for a different race during this period, Coach Jerry will be happy to help you modify the training schedule to meet your particular needs.

Registration Fee Includes: Training schedule, 3 weekly newsletters, entry to the Saturday morning and Wednesday night running clinics, and a clinic souvenir.

What Can I Do To Prepare?

To ensure that you get the most out of your experience in the clinic, come with a positive frame of mind and an eagerness to learn about the many benefits of running. Also, come willing to share your own goals, stories, and knowledge, as each member will enhance the overall clinic experience.

What Should I Expect?

Expect to come out and join a fun group as you train for your next challenge. We will slowly build up your long run as you prepare for a Half or Full Marathon.

Where will the runs take place?

Most runs will begin at Forerunners North Shore at 980 Marine Drive, North Vancouver at 8:00 AM sharp.

Do We Run Rain Or Shine?

Yes, no matter what the weather does, we're ready to go.

Is There Parking Near Your Store?

Yes, there is ample parking on both Mackay Street and Churchill Cresent (South and South West of the store on Marine Drive).

Can I Bring My Pet?

While we love our pets also, this group is just for people.

Jerry Ziak

A longtime competitive athlete, Jerry has leveraged his passion for running to become a fantastic coach. He leads both the Wednesday night and Saturday morning Clinics in North Vancouver, as well as doing personal one-on-one coaching. He also has an impressive 20 years experience fitting running shoes – no small feat in itself!
