About the Clinic

Train with Forerunners North Shore through the second half of spring for the Vancouver Half Marathon on June 26th, 2022. This clinic includes Tuesday evening workouts (6:20 pm), Saturday morning long runs (8:00 am), a detailed training schedule, twice-weekly workout newsletters, and email access to Coach Jerry.
Coming off the BMO Marathon and Half Marathon on May 1st, we’ll take a recovery week before kicking things off again on the evening of Tuesday, May 10th. My suggestion will be to do an 8 to 12 km maintenance run on your own on Saturday, May 7th to help you recover from the BMO Half or Full Marathon. Our first group long run on May 14th will be 16 km and we’ll increase by 2 km every second week until our peak long run of 20 km 2 weeks before race day.

FAQ

What Can I Do To Prepare?

With our volatile spring weather here in Vancouver, come prepared for any conditions. If you bring too much clothing, you can always layer down. You need to be prepared to complete 16 km for our first group long run on May 14th. For the Tuesday night workouts, as long as you can run 30 minutes of continuous running, you’ll be able to complete any of the sessions. You create your own level of challenge by how fast you’re running. Although we are all attempting to achieve our own individual goals, we encourage you to embrace the cooperative and supportive attitude that training together helps all of us achieve greater things than if we were to run separately.

What Should I Expect?

Expect to be a part of a supportive and friendly group of fellow runners, coaches, and leaders that will help you enjoy your running experience at whatever level you're currently training at. We have half marathon groups that range from a goal time f

Jerry Ziak

Jerry Ziak has been a competitive middle and long-distance runner since 1986. His passion for the sport began at the young age of 10 when he began competing on the track and over cross country in distances ranging from 800 meters to 5 km. Since then he has explored every distance up to the marathon at the national and international level and continues to compete as a masters (over 40) runner in cross country and on the road. He is an owner of Forerunners North Shore and enjoys coaching runners of all abilities. His particular passion is the discovery and practice of training techniques and daily behaviours that allow us to continue moving youthfully as we age.
