Join us at Forerunners Main Street on Friday March 23rd at 6:30 pm for a look at the latest research findings on how to run farther, faster, and with fewer injuries. We’ll have brief talks from three leading experts, with plenty of time for questions and an opportunity to hang out and talk running afterwards.
“How to land lightly: the biomechanics of injury-free running”: with Chris Napier (@runnerphysio) is a biomechanics researcher at UBC, a 2:33 marathoner, and a physiotherapist for the BC Endurance Project and the national track and cross-county teams.
“Beyond 42.2K: the physiology of ultramarathoning”: Matthew White heads the Laboratory for Exercise & Environmental Physiology at SFU, and has been studying participants in the North Shore Knee Knackering 50K Trail Run.
“It’s gotta be the shoes: behind-the-scenes lessons from the two-hour marathon chase”: Alex Hutchinson (@sweatscience) is a science journalist specializing in endurance sports for Outside Magazine, Canadian Running Magazine, and the Globe and Mail.
Alex will also have copies of his new book, ENDURE: Mind, Body, and the Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance, available after the talks.

Ellie Greenwood is an ultrarunning coach and sponsored athlete for Hoka One One. Her racing highlights include two time World 100k champion, Western States course record holder and Comrades marathon winner. A Scot turned Canadian, Ellie lives and trains in North Vancouver. We’re very excited to have Ellie host this informative evening.
