About This Clinic

For the past 39 years, Forerunners West 4th Ave has proudly organized and conducted Running Clinics since the opening of our first store in August 1986. As the pioneering establishment in Canada to offer such clinics, we’ve truly valued the opportunity to support your running journeys. We believe it is now time to embark on a new chapter for our program.

There has been numerous volunteer run leaders who have played a key role in the clinics over the years.ย  These individuals led pace groups ensuring that participants had guidance, motivation, and camaraderie tailored to their fitness level. Their consistent dedication helped shape the inclusive and supportive culture at Forerunners. They were the backbone of the groups and their efforts made the runs more than just training sessions.ย  They made them a community.

Due to recent adjustments in staffing and participation levels, our West 4th Ave program will transition from the structured Running Clinics to complementary Social Runs.

These free runs will be held every Saturday at 9:00 AM and Wednesday at 6:15 PM, commencing Saturday, September 13th and Wednesday, September 17, from our 3502 West 4th Avenue.ย  Participants will have the option of 6 km and 12 km routes.

Should you require continued Running Clinics with structured coaching and training plans, our Main Street store, established in April 2017, and our North Vancouver store, opened in August 2002, continue to offer a variety of clinic options to meet your needs.

Karen Butler

Karen is an accomplished runner and a born-and-raised Vancouverite (which means she obviously doesn’t think twice about running in the rain). She used to run for Simon Fraser University, and holds a 3 hour marathon time. Still an avid runner today, Karen keeps her passion for the sport alive. She is a cornerstone of the Forerunners community.
